NAQT Military Practice Test

Operation Enduring Freedom was the strategic military operation launched in direct response to the attacks on September 11, 2001. Initiated in October 2001, this operation aimed to dismantle al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban from power in Afghanistan, where the terrorist group was based and trained. The operation marked a significant moment in U.S. military history, emphasizing a commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring national security following the unprecedented attacks on American soil.

The choice of Operation Enduring Freedom reflects the broader and long-term objectives of the United States in dealing with terrorism, focusing on stability in the region and the prevention of future attacks. The mission had far-reaching implications for U.S. foreign policy and military strategy going forward.

In contrast, the other operations mentioned are associated with different conflicts and time periods. Operation Iraqi Freedom pertained to the war in Iraq starting in 2003, Operation Desert Shield was the initial defense of Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War in 1990, and Operation Just Cause was the invasion of Panama in 1989 aimed at overthrowing Manuel Noriega. Each of these operations addresses distinct military endeavors not directly related to the events of September 11, 2001.
